Boston University Virtual is focused on the creation and
support of high-quality online degree and certificate programs. We are seeking an Executive Director, Online Program Operations, to support
and manage the operations of a portfolio of online graduate and certificate programs. Reporting to the Vice President and Associate Provost
of BU Virtual and the Institute for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, this leader is responsible for the development, design and
documentation of centralized operational processes related to all aspects of online program development. This role designs workflow
processes and procedures, manages resource capacity planning, and optimizes performance efficiencies across teams. Collaborating with
leaders inside of BU Virtual and across BUs schools and colleges, this individual manages the full lifecycle process for all online
programs, ensuring effective and efficient operations in the creation and launch of new and existing programs.

Key
Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic vision and leadership in all areas of online program operations managing processes for program
    development review, build, QA and course launches. Formulate and communicate project plans to support the rollout, update and programming of
    new operational processes, including developing training, documentation, and change management plans for both internal stakeholders at BU
    Virtual and other key stakeholders across the BU staff and faculty community.
  • Oversee administrative and operational support for
    all online learning programs from point of initiation to launch.
  • Maintain a Culture of Continuous Improvement. Recognize and
    identify current inefficiencies and additional opportunities to streamline operations by centralizing and transforming legacy
    processes.
  • Oversee all online program compliance efforts to include any changes to accreditation, accessibility, proctoring and
    other elements, as required by BU’s schools and colleges. Maintain updated documentation and records.
  • Lead and review impact and
    results of operational procedures, and make updates to/redesign operational procedures, and socialize newly designed operational solutions
    to gain buy-in as applicable.
  • Ensure the team compositions align with strategic goals and with the ability to quickly scale and
    adjust to needs and changes with appropriate oversight and accountability.
  • Maintain close collaboration with the BU Virtual
    stakeholders across our learning design and education technology community to facilitate knowledge transfer, and delineate clear delegation
    and accountability of work between teams.
  • Conduct routine operational assessments across programs to ensure alignment to best
    practices and expand BU Virtual programs as a quality brand in market.
  • Proactively collaborate with the BU Virtual Operations team
    and other BU Virtual leaders to ensure systematic processes are designed to optimize operational excellence while being scalable for future
    growth.
  • Supervisory experience for a team of operations professionals. Prior experience coaching and developing a high-performance
    team.

Required Skills

  • 7-10 years of experience in online program management, with demonstrated success managing
    programs and operations across a portfolio of online programs.
  • Extraordinary project management skills and attention to detail,
    with a proven track record of managing projects, priorities and processes in a higher education or online program setting.
  • Adept at
    working with a variety of stakeholders in a large matrixed environment, including faculty, staff, students and administrators.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, multimedia). Clearly articulate goals and objectives and lead professional development
    and change management efforts as it relates to building operational cohesion and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with tools and emerging
    technologies for online learning. Experience working with project management software (i.e., Asana, Microsoft Project), a plus.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in data-driven decision-making and reporting to drive impact and inform new approaches and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and supervise staff, build a shared sense of mission, foster staff collaboration, build strong
    teams, and mentor staff.
  • Adept at troubleshooting, problem solving, and negotiating priorities with the ability to assess a
    situation, identify issues and practical solutions, and determine the best course of action.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment
    to developing best practices and initiatives with impact that cultivate and empower a best in class online student and faculty experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, business administration, project management, operations or related field. Master’s degree
    preferred.
