A stunning new Amex Centurion Lounge is coming to Boston

American Express isn’t resting on its laurels as the credit card issuer with the biggest airport lounge network.

The issuer keeps looking for more spaces to open new lounges, and the latest addition will open in Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) at some point in 2027, as first reported by Thrifty Traveler.

Amex submitted a proposal for a new Centurion Lounge at BOS to Massport, the governing agency that operates the airport. Massport approved the lease at its most recent board meeting, meaning that Amex will be able to move forward with the lounge construction as planned.

The renderings in the proposal are low-resolution, but they show a swanky new space in the works for Boston. (Stay tuned to TPG for more as additional images become available.)

TPG reached out to American Express to confirm the news, but the issuer stopped short of officially confirming the new location in the following statement:

“We’re always looking for ways to expand the Centurion Lounge network in airports our Card Members frequently travel through and have plans to open new Centurion Lounges at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) in Utah and Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo in 2025 and at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey in 2026. We don’t have any additional details to share at this time.”

The new space will measure 20,000 square feet, making it one of the biggest Centurion Lounges in the network. It’ll feature a self-described “green roof” with some grass and plants surrounding the lounge.

It’ll also offer a rooftop bar and patio (that’ll hopefully be covered), along with what appear to be stunning views of the airport operations.

The lounge will be located near Gate C10 in a new structure that the airport will start building later this year. Terminals B, C and E are all connected airside at Boston, meaning that anyone flying on a carrier other than Delta Air Lines should be able to use the lounge without reclearing security.

With this news, Boston becomes the latest battleground for the credit card airport lounge wars. Chase opened its first domestic Sapphire Lounge location in Boston in 2023, and now Amex will join the fight with its own outpost in the city.

Other upcoming domestic Centurion Lounge locations include a new outpost in Salt Lake City that will open later this year and a location in Newark that is expected to open in 2026.

You can’t purchase Centurion Lounge access, even if you carry another American Express card.

Note that Centurion Lounge guest policies have recently changed to reduce overcrowding.

Platinum Card members cannot bring complimentary guests into the lounge unless they meet a $75,000 annual spending requirement on their cards. Otherwise, they’ll pay $50 per adult guest and $30 per child (ages 2 to 17). Children under 2 can enter for free. Centurion and Corporate Platinum Card members can continue to bring up to two complimentary guests into the lounge.

The information for the Centurion and Corporate Platinum credit cards has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
