Canelo Next? Jake Paul’s Post-Tyson Plan Revealed

Jake Paul says he will call out Canelo Alvarez after defeating Mike Tyson on Friday night in their eight-rounder. The YouTuber Paul has called out the superstar Canelo in the past, but the timing of his call-out now signals that he thinks his current match against the aged Tyson needs cheap publicity.

Jake is getting his hustle going, clout-chasing, using Canelo’s name to draw attention to his celebrity match against the old relic, Mike Tyson. It’s utterly pathetic, but you got to do something to create interest in the Tyson fight. I’m just surprised that Jake Paul didn’t name some other popular fighters in his call out.

Reasons For Jake Paul Calling Out Canelo

  • This self-promotional move for the 27-year-old influencer Jake to help create hype for his Nextflix fight against 58-year-old Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Obviously, calling out Canelo, the #1 star in North America, will help Jake Paul generate badly needed attention for his celebrity match against the retired Tyson.
  • Lining up a big-money fight: Although Jake Paul has a net worth estimated at $80 million, which could soar to $120 million after Friday’s fight with Mike Tyson, he’s putting himself in a position to potentially get an even bigger payday against Canelo if the Mexican star agrees to fight him. It would be a money-grab type of fight, but there are enough suckers that would purchase a Canelo vs. Jake fight for both to make a killing.
  • Placing His Name Among The Best: By Jake Paul calling out Canelo, he’s planting the idea into casual boxing fans’ heads that he’s a relevant fighter on the same perch as the Mexican star. It’s a strategy behind name-dropping. A person mentions someone who is above their achievement level to make the listener believe they’re at the same level. Jake’s only chance of convincing fans that he deserves a fight against Canelo is to trick them into thinking he’s at his level after he defeats the 58-year-old fossil Tyson.

“This moment will prove that I’m the face of boxing, the largest attraction, and me vs. Canelo at 200lbs for the cruiserweight world title is the biggest fight,” said Jake Paul to SugaSean MMA about what he plans on doing after he beats Mike Tyson on Friday.

“It makes so much sense. Canelo’s on his way out; he’s going to want a payday. And I want to show the world that all the s*** I’ve been talking about beating Canelo is actually true. I will have the biggest upset in the sport of boxing. We will fight to really see who is the face.”
