University’s College of Graduate Health Studies (CGHS) is seeking an innovative Professional for the position of Manager, Instructional
Design. The Manager, Instructional Design will lead a team of instructional designers to scope, develop, and deliver CGHS curricula and
courses. This person will establish operational plans and oversee projects with faculty stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver online
courses and projects. This manager will oversee collaborative design of digital course content with faculty/subject matter experts, assist
with curriculum development, and lead efforts to integrate teaching and learning technology tools. This position reports to the CGHS
Associate Dean, Academics, Assessment and Curricular Innovation.

Duties and
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Fostering an environment of collegiality, trust, and high performance
    within the ID Team.
  • Ensuring the effectiveness of curricula and programs maintained by the ID Team.
  • Maintaining a high level
    of quality in the consultative and programmatic work of the ID Team.
  • Oversight of online course design and development process in
    collaboration with faculty and subject matter experts.
  • Leading efforts to integrate and leverage emerging educational technologies.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with academic department chairs, CGHS faculty, CGHS / ATSU staff, and other institutional
    leaders.
  • Participating on the CGHS Advisory Committee and Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Effectively manage
    and motivate team members
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with all levels of
    the university community, advocate for team needs, effectively balance competing demands, and the ability to work across organizational
    boundaries, particularly in the areas of teaching and learning
  • Ability to research, assess, select, implement, and support
    instructional media and emerging technologies that benefit the university’s teaching and learning priorities
  • Highly developed
    experience in applying learning theory and pedagogy to develop instructional design strategies. Knowledge and application of best practices
    using technology for teaching and learning, including but not limited to, multimedia development, web conferencing, learning management
    systems, online collaborative tools, and high impact practices for learning
  • Strong critical thinking skills to analyze complex
    problems and develop creative solutions with resources available.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master’s
    degree from an accredited institution at the time of application.
  • Seven years of experience working in a higher education setting,
    including expertise in online education, including asynchronous course design.
  • Proven expertise in online learning management
    systems (LMS) use.
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership and project management.
  • Strong background in course design,
    curriculum mapping, instructional technology, and learning assessment.
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering productive
    relationships with individuals at various professional levels.
  • Advanced knowledge of learning theory and pedagogy, with the ability
    to apply these to instructional design strategies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of high-quality online learning principles and
    practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in instructional design or closely related
    field.
  • Experience teaching online courses.
  • Experience working within a health professions education program, college or
    university.
  • Expertise in technology infusion in graduate course design (i.e. AI, VR, adaptive learning systems, interactive
    technology, gamification, etc.)
  • Active participation in position-relevant professional associations (e.g., OLC, EDUCAUSE, UPCEA,
    Quality Matters, etc.).
  • Record of active scholarship within the field of online education.
  • Experience supervising a diverse
    team of professionals
  • Track record of leading innovative learning initiatives.

The salary range for this position is
$72,000 – $90,000 based on location and experience.
