Job Summary:

Serves as primary advisor for all online graduate
students in the College of Business and Management. This position works with students from admission to completion of the program,
developing their educational plans, assessing progress and recommending adjustments to their educational plan and provides guidance and
advice. This position is mission critical to the college as it works with the students on their educational and academic achievements. It
requires the position to research various topics and issues pertaining to the academic program and academic issues the student encounters,
assess the situation and then develop, and implement methods/procedures to correct the situation and make sure future problems/issues do not
arise. This position is also crucial to the recruitment and retention of students in the online graduate programs and serves as the primary
contact for these students for all areas related to their academic experience at UIS. This person generally works with students that are not
physically located on campus and may be located all over the world by the nature of online learning. This position serves as the instructor
of record for the educational experience, ranging from seminars to course/lab instruction.

Duties &
Responsibilities:

  • Student advisement: The Online Coordinator is the primary contact for online graduate students to discuss
    problems and/or issues regarding their academic experience. The coordinator will utilize the information to help improve the online
    educational experience by researching the problems and issues, analyzing, and assessing the results, and developing and implementing
    corrective measures. The coordinator serves as the intake academic advisor and resource for all graduate students in online curricula in
    CBM. This position will analyze and assess academic records and intercede on behalf of students with university infrastructures to ensure
    academic progress. As a front line contact, the online coordinator maintains communication with all CBM online graduate students from their
    admission to their respective programs to development of their education plans, until degree completion.
  • Cohort assessment and
    analysis: The Online Coordinator assists the departments with course planning and scheduling by analyzing past enrollment trends and
    reviewing current active students to ensure that course offerings are adequate to meet demands, and that student feedback is integrated into
    programming. Identifies and analyzes online graduate program students’ course enrollment and retention patterns; general, core and elective
    course demands; graduation eligibility; and progression through the degree and certificate programs to make recommendations relating to
    programming and support.
  • Program facilitation: Develops and implements relevant policies and procedures and ensures the ongoing
    examination of department practices for functions such as recruitment and marketing, enrollment and retention, service and program delivery,
    and technology integration and enterprise management. The online coordinator proactively reviews and evaluates such policies and procedures
    on a continuing basis in order to anticipate unmet needs and identify service gaps, enabling efficient and effective response to
    students.
  • Recruitment and retention: Supports, promotes and is actively involved with the college’s and campus’ recruitment and
    marketing strategies, including making recommendations and facilitating the development of appropriate materials with the proper office to
    ensure the distribution of accurate, current and consistent information to identified constituencies. Maintains and updates the department
    website and social media accounts appropriate to these strategies as needed. Serves as a front-line recruiter for prospective online program
    students, this includes communicating and meeting with prospective students and/or families. Utilizes information obtained from prospective
    and current students to facilitate a positive and cohesive experience for students and develop/modify student retention strategies.
  • Instruction: Instructs students relevant graduation requirements and academic policies and procedures that will help them be
    successful students and attain their educational goals. Provide course instruction, seminars, and labs.
  • Participation in meetings:
    Facilitating or attending College, Department, and/or Campus meetings. Participate in other committees and professional development
    activities as requested by the Dean or Associate Dean. Represents a positive image of the University, College, and Department.
  • Completion of other assigned duties related to student and academic support on behalf of the Department and the College of Business
    and Management.

Minimum Qualifications:
* A graduate degree and one year of work experience in related
field.
* Previous professional experience should include:
1. Providing direct student support in an academic environment;
2.
Knowledge of and ability to utilize learning technologies;
3. Managing database/information systems;
4. Coordinating academic
programming;
5. Managing projects, programs, and/or special initiatives.
