Sexy knits were Azzedine Alaïa’s calling card from the start, and since the late designer’s passing in 2001, his signature skintight looks are alive and well, thanks to fans including Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, to name a few.
Currently in Paris for Couture Fashion Week, Jenner, 27, took cues from supermodel Naomi Campbell (who wore a similar look on Alaïa’s Fall 1991 runway), when she wore a modified version of the legendary catsuit: a dress with the same sheer leopard spots and velvet cutouts.
After all, Alaïa’s signature clingy knits were always transformative, and for his 1991 collection, he added a new, feral sense of “animal magnetism” to his famously sexy, body-con silhouettes.
Along with Campbell, 54, Beverly Peele and Christy Turlington also strutted down the, ahem, catwalk in near-identical looks with matching black cashmere berets, bien sûr. This made Jenner’s decision to don her micro-minidress in the City of Light feel all the more fitting.
Before she took in today’s shows, she struck a series of wildly sexy selfies that put her outfit of the day on full display, as it flattered her from all angles. Standing in what appeared to be her red-walled hotel room, she looked every inch the ‘90s sex kitten, from her bombshell blowout to her caramel-brown Kylie Cosmetics lipstick, which she could be seen applying in the mirror.
She used a pencil with a slightly darker tint that emphasized the contours of her mouth. It is instantly called the ‘90s supermodel lip – a look also seen on Alaïa’s Fall 1991 runway.
She didn’t waste a moment to wear her archival wardrobe in the wild, as after posting on Instagram and captioning it “meow,” she dined at Bar des Prés, the crudo-centric celebrity hotspot that recently opened on the Right Bank – and Jenner dressed the part à la Parisienne.
