Position: Online Learning Technician
Department: SUNY Canton Center for Learning Design,
Innovation, and Online Instruction
The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a
full-time, 12-months Online Learning Technician position in the Center for Learning Design, Innovation, and Online Instruction beginning May
19, 2025.
Description of Duties
The online learning technician will join a team consisting of learning
management system (LMS) administrator, instructional technologist, and instructional designers in an upbeat and active department that
provides LMS and instructional design support to the College community.
Reporting to the director of online learning, the successful
candidate will provide faculty, staff, and students technical support for using the LMS.
Some of the duties include
- triage and resolution of requests received through department communication channels,
- importing online course content,
- creating course shells in the LMS,
- user enrollment,
- providing assistance in accessible course creation,
- providing technical training to faculty, staff, and students, and
- independent research of issues related to the LMS.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in educational technology or related field from an
accredited college or university. However, substantial experience in the relevant field paired with an associate’s degree may be
accepted in lieu of the bachelor’s degree. - Experience working with learning management systems (Brightspace, Blackboard,
etc.) - Familiarity and comfort with diverse instructional technologies
- Clear, concise, and friendly communication
skills - Organizational and time management skills
- Commitment to service excellence
Preferred
Qualifications
- Proficiency in working with Brightspace by D2L learning management system on an administrator
level - 2 or more years of experience with faculty and student support and training
- Standard Microsoft 365 product
proficiency - Experience with creating accessible content
- Demonstrated commitment to student success in online and other
environments
