Position Summary:
The Dean of Students Office plays a key role in fostering a
learning environment that upholds community standards essential for student success. The office promotes academic and social responsibility
by instilling values such as integrity, accountability, inclusivity, and community. It also cultivates a culture of care by educating the
university community on responding to concerning student behavior, including proper reporting and referrals. The Student Care Manager
oversees the daily management of the office’s programs, services, and operations, ensuring alignment with university policies and state and
federal regulations such as UWS Chapters 14, 17, and 18; FERPA; the Clery Act; and Title
IX. The role involves supervising student interns, responding to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, and collaborating with
the Dean of Students, Title IX Coordinator, and Director of the Disability Resource Center. This position is grounded in best practices from
the Association of Student Conduct Administrators (ASCA) and the National Association for Behavioral Intervention
and Threat Assessment (NABITA), with a commitment to creating a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work
environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in student development, higher education administration, counseling, or a related
    field.
  • Minimum of one year of professional experience in higher education, student affairs, student care coordination, or related
    fields (Master’s degree with relevant internship or experience may substitute).
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written
    communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong professional judgment and
    decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely administrative records for cases.
  • Experience conducting
    fair, impartial, and unbiased investigations, including complex conduct and sexual misconduct cases.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to
    diverse student populations, contributing to the University’s commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.

Preferred
Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in student development, higher education administration, counseling, or a related
    field.
  • Professional experience in student conduct.
  • Experience with Title IX processes and sexual misconduct
    investigations.
  • Experience working with students in crisis.
  • Familiarity with restorative justice
    practices.
  • Experience with Maxient, including creating templates.
  • Knowledge of student development theory, substance abuse,
    victim’s needs, due process, and legal issues in higher education.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and policies (UWS Chapter 14, 17, and 18; Board of Regents and UW System Policies; Title IX, Clery, FERPA).
