Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Student Life Coordinator. The Student Life
Coordinator will work to serve a rapidly growing student population by implementing best practices and professionalizing student activities
and involvement opportunities

In this role, the Student Life Coordinator will collaborate with and support student government, clubs
and organizations, campus recreation and other campus departments. This collaboration and support include assisting with event planning,
providing advisement and mentorship to student leaders, and serving on working committees for various campus-wide, student-focused
initiatives/events. The primary responsibility of the coordinator will be to continue to increase involvement opportunities while
maintaining and retaining current engagement processes for Nevada State University students. This responsibility is achieved, in part, by
creating and providing training and resources for current student organizations as well as working to assist in the process of creating new
student organizations. The coordinator will support the Associate Director of Student Life in all campus activities and student development
initiatives within the office.

Primary Responsibilities:

Clubs and
Organizations

  • Oversee Clubs and Organizations on campus {including the process to officially recognize clubs, support faculty
    advisors, and provide training for club and org student leaders).
  • Ensure that Clubs and Orgs adhere to all university policies,
    procedures, and guidelines.
  • Develop and conduct trainings for development of student club leaders and faculty advisors.
  • Plan and host club leaders retreat once a semester (fall and spring).
  • Plan monthly club check ins (Space to provide
    updates and upcoming events).
  • Complete purchases in accordance with university policy as necessary for each individual club.
  • Take a lead role in creating programming opportunities to foster a collaborative culture amongst registered student organizations
    (i.e. major holidays).

Student Development Initiatives

  • Alternative Breaks – create external community partnerships and
    service projects for students through a multiple day’s outdoor experience.

Campus Activities

  • Coordinate Office of Student
    Life Programming/Events with the Associate Director of Student Life.
  • Serve as point person for assigned large scale student events
    hosted by the Office of Student Life.
  • Coordinate efforts of committees planning themed event calendars and or series’ (i.e.
    community socials, welcome weeks, spirit week and study breaks).
  • Build foundation to create a student lead campus activities board.

Management of Engagement Platform

  • Maintain the student engagement platform (currently Presence) through coordination with
    the Office of Student Life, Information Technology, Clubs and Orgs, NSSA, and other interested campus stakeholders.
  • Support
    development of co-curricular pathways – a. creating programming that adheres to co-curricular framework and b. support the back-end
    development of pathways and engagement tracking within engagement platform.
  • Maintain and manage finance piece and records through
    the engagement platform for clubs and orgs.

Supervision and Involvement Hub

  • Involvement Hub – supervise a group of Student
    Life Assistant student workers (4-6) and continually develop the Involvement Hub (welcome desk) into a premier location for students to get
    connected to engagement opportunities.
  • Maintenance and reservation of student lounge space “Scorpion Den” in the Rogers Student
    Center (RSC) (25Live approvals, rental game and promotional space usage).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
    from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education.
  • 2 years of related
    experience.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related
    visas).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Knowledge of student development
    theory.
  • Experience working with student organizations and leaders.

Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary for this
position is $59,186. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 17.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning
balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with
flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. On
occasions work schedule is evening hours and weekends.
