Aspyn Ovard and her ex-husband, Parker Ferris, are getting candid about her sexuality.
“I think there were definitely signs,” Ferris replied.
After Ovard separated from Ferris, she confirmed via TikTok that she would be open to dating a woman.
“So many people struggle with their sexuality for, like, many different reasons,” she said in a video earlier this month. “I have always been told I can love whoever I want and be whoever I want, and so I’ve always known that. At this point in my life, I’m not confused about my sexuality.”
Ovard added, “I’m more confused about straight people because I’m, like, ‘How do you guys not want to hook up with girls?’ Like, I don’t understand that.”
Ovard recently started dating again after her divorce.
News broke in April that Ovard filed to dissolve her marriage from Ferris after nine years on the same day that they announced their third daughter’s birth. (Ovard and Ferris also share daughters Cove, 4, and Lola, 2.)
“It’s just, like, the next chapter,” she said on a September episode of the “Pretty Basic” podcast. “My mom’s divorced and remarried, my grandparents are all divorced and remarried — every single one of them. Seeing them all now, I’m like, ‘You guys are all so much happier. I cannot imagine if you were married still.’ Life just goes on.”
Ovard further acknowledged that divorce is still “such a devastating thing” when children are involved.
“It’s a lot to go through,” she added. “I’m like, ‘Whatever works for my family is what I’m doing. I could not care less what anybody else would think about that.”
According to Ovard, she will also “never share” what led to her decision to file for divorce.
Ovard has since scaled back her previous decision to share details about her daughters via social media, starting with baby No. 3’s name.
“I haven’t really fully decided, [but] I’ve definitely been leaning towards not sharing it,” she said in an April vlog. “I’ve kind of been waiting to just see what nicknames come up for her and then I’ll share something like that. She has a couple nicknames so far, but not anything that I feel is gonna fully stick and that I would want to refer to her as when I’m talking about her.”
Ovard continued, “If I could go back in time, I wouldn’t have shared Cove and Lola’s actual names. I would have just shared nicknames for them, I wish I had done that, so with this baby, I’m like, ‘Do I want to share her name?’ I think eventually I will have something that I will refer to her as [in my social posts].”
